Psychological Assessment Services

  • The trauma of a car accident can have lasting impacts on your mental health and make it feel like your life may never fully return to normal.

I offer MVA screening assessments to identify psychological symptoms that may be impeding your recovery. After the assessment, I write a summary letter to share with your insurance adjuster and/or legal representative outlining our findings, offering appropriate treatment recommendations, and advocating for your access to treatment coverage to support your recover.

  • Wondering if ADHD might explain some of the challenges you’ve been facing? A formal assessment can offer clarity, validation, and practical next steps.

ADHD assessments include a clinical interview (around 2 hours), testing, and additional data gathering (e.g., review of childhood documents like report cards; with your permission, talking to someone who knows you well and/or getting them to fill out a observer questionnaire or two).

The total length and cost of the assessment will depend on what you are hoping to get out of it. For example, if you’re seeking potential academic accommodations, we may need to complete some additional tests in order to get a better understanding of how your brain works, your unique challenges, and what the best accommodations would be to help even the playing field for you.

  • To qualify for the Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) program, you must provide evidence of having a developmental disability prior to age 18. For neurodevelopmental disabilities, a recent psychological assessment report can required as part of the application.

A PDD assessment involves a clinical interview and standardized testing to evaluate intelligence (IQ) and adaptive skills functioning. It may also involve an interview or testing with someone who knows you well (like a parent or teacher) and/or review of relevant documents (like previous assessment reports). This will help us determine whether you meet diagnostic criteria for a neurodevelopmental disability.

A psychological assessment report confirming the presence of a developmental disability can also be submitted as part of an AISH application. Please note that I cannot complete an AISH application as this needs to be done by a medical professional like a family doctor or nurse practitioner.

If desired, I can support assessment clients who qualify for the Disability Tax Credit with their application for an additional report writing fee.

  • Looking for clarity about your or your youth’s mental health, but not sure where to start? A general mental health assessment can help you make better sense of the patterns, struggles, or questions that brought you here. Whether you're exploring symptoms, trying to better understand yourself, or deciding what kind of support might help, I take a compassionate, collaborative approach to highlight both strengths and areas for growth.

This is a general assessment that can offer valuable insights and direction, even if it doesn’t lead to a formal diagnosis. You’ll leave with a clearer picture and concrete next steps, like therapy or medical follow-up.

FAQs

  • For most assessments, the cost varies depending on the complexity and the services needed. I offer a complimentary consultation meeting to help determine your needs and build a personalized assessment package that is billed at a flat rate.

MVA assessments cost $600. This inclusive package includes a 1.5-hour appointment for a clinical interview and testing, as well as the cost of scoring and and a summary letter with findings and treatment recommendations.

If you are a therapy client, general/screening assessment work can be integrated into our regular therapy sessions. There may be an additional charge for testing materials (if applicable), but this would be discussed with you ahead of time.

  • Minimum 24 hours’ notice: Therapy appointments can be cancelled or rescheduled without penalty as long as you provide at least 24 hours’ notice. This helps ensure that the appointment is available to someone else who might need it.

If you are starting to feel sick or otherwise suspect that you may not be able to attend your upcoming session, you are encouraged to be proactive and reschedule to avoid penalty.

Less than 24 hours’ notice: Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged an administrative fee of $100. Exceptions may be made for emergent circumstances at my discretion, so please contact me immediately if you will be unable to attend your appointment.

Alternatively, if something comes up last-minute and you won’t be able to make it into the office, you are welcome to switch your appointment to a virtual or telephone session. This can easily be accommodated on short notice.

No-shows: Missed appointments will be billed at the full session rate.

If you are more than 15 minutes late for your appointment without providing notification of your lateness, this will be considered a no-show.

I cannot direct bill insurance companies for missed appointments or late cancellation fees. The client is responsible for these charges, and insurance companies typically do not provide reimbursement for them. These charges must be paid before you will be able to schedule another appointment.

  • Most insurance providers offer partial or full coverage for psychological services. It is your responsibility to confirm that your benefits cover psychological assessment as well as services provided by a Registered Provisional Psychologist prior to booking.

If you have coverage for services but your insurance does not allow direct billing, you will be responsible for paying the fees. You will be provided with a receipt of payment that you can submit to insurance for reimbursement.

Please note that insurance companies typically do not reimburse the costs of missed appointments or late cancellation fees, and these cannot be direct billed.

  • Nope! You are welcome to refer yourself.

However, for an MVA assessment, there are a few extra steps you will likely need to take if you want your insurance/Section B benefits to cover the cost.

You are welcome to contact me to schedule a complimentary consultation call. I am happy to answer any other questions you have about working together.

Some additional considerations:

  • Formal assessment is intended to investigate psychological functioning in an objective and professional manner. As such, it is not guaranteed to result in a formal diagnosis being made. No matter the outcome, you will receive a psychological assessment report outlining your results, helpful insights, and personalized recommendations that may include psychoeducational resources (e.g., websites, books, videos, podcasts, etc.), treatment recommendations (e.g., specific therapy modalities, follow-up with a medical professional for further testing or care), and/or local resources (e.g., social programs, support or advocacy groups).

  • Because I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist, all of my assessment reports and summary letters have to be reviewed and co-signed by one of my supervisors. This gives you access to two professionals’ expertise for the price of one. I am happy to answer any questions you may have about my supervisors, their professional experience, and what exactly their involvement in your assessment may like.

  • Many assessments are able to take place virtually. However, some may require you to come into the office for at least a portion of the testing since some tests we might need to use can only be done in-person. You will be made aware of your options before booking.

  • I currently do not offer the following types of assessments: Autism; forensic; parenting capacity or custody/access; independent medical evaluations; neuropsychological; return-to-work/vocational capacity.
